Sumac is native to the Mediterranean regions, especially southern Italy and throughout parts of the Middle East. This berry has a sour & astringent flavor, similar to lemon peel. Commonly used in lebanese & turkish cooking; try in salad dressings, marinades, stews, casseroles, & dips. Has gentle diuretic & stomachic actions. Can be helpful for colds and to help peak fevers.
